Although I enjoyed this, I can't help but be a git and complain that there is too much "straight" SF on Pseudopod these days. It's a bit annoying.

But I have found a solution: Apex SF and Horror Digest should have a podcast!

I know the feeling, Romer - I used to work in labs, too, and in one job had to sample all the incoming materials. I never had a problem dealing with chemicals that were explosive, but carcinogens gave me the heebie-jeebies. With explosives, you always know where you stood: Either you were OK - or it it didn't matter anymore. With some of the other stuff, though, I was always wondering if an unnoticed mask or glove leak now would result in my dying of cancer 10 years later...
I'll bet that you and I could trade some amusingly hair-raising stories.

Loved it. I work in a lab all day long and that's where I listen to all my Escape Artists podcasts. After listening to this story, all day long I kept over analyzing every feeling: 'was that something in my glove? something in my sleeves?'

I liked the story a great deal, but somehow it didn't quite make the leap from "sci-fi" to "horror". While the effects of the virus were suitably horrific, grotesque medical effects do not ‘horror’ make; and though our alien overlords were dismayingly amoral, we humans have used each other as lab rats with far less provocation.
Don’t get me wrong, though; I did enjoy it.

Enjoyed the story very much. Sci-Fi can be just as scary as anything else. While this story didn't break new ground it did tell a solid story and building a world I'd like to know more about.

Escape Pod has been a big steamy pile of let down lately. I'm glad that the pseudopod has filed some of the sci-fi void with a quality story.

Any more stories from White Street Society (Pseudo076)? I still get a kick out of that story and love to hear more from the gentlemen of WSS.

I liked this one a lot. Nothing mind-blowingly original about it, but it was well-written with small details that provided a nice sense of atmosphere and emotional weight.

Great story, interesting premise. Glad to see the occasional bit of scifi around here. Without it people might forget the future isn't necessarily pleasant.

I know you can't really do scifi every week here, but We are all Very Lively, What Dead People are Supposed to Do and Oranges, Lemons and Thou Beside Me were some of my favorite stories from you guys. Look forward to more dark scifi around here.
