I don't like movie reviews on escape pod, and I don't like them here. I subscribe for fiction, not cinema opinions. There are enough movie review podcasts out there, thank you very much.

Adding to what Richard says, and what Alasdair said in his review, I would suggest that what makes Myers even more frightening is his complete lack of expression. We communicate with expression, possibly more than we do verbally.

Now imagine you have someone standing in front of you with a bloody knife, and they're totally expressionless. This is a threat that you completely cannot reason with, cannot bargain with and cannot understand.

Very fun podcast. I'll be keeping an eye out for it.

It is an interesting sidebar to notethat Michael Myers was only called 'the Shape' in the credits. This appears to be a validation of the idea of Michael being a blank space where we all can imprint our own personal monster. He's much more scary in imagination than the actual film footage because he's really just a place-holder for all the fears of the audience.

His relentlessness is also a huge factor in the level of fear. Laurie killed him at least twice and Dr. Loomis pumped six rounds into him, but he still got up and walked away.
